Inheriting his love of music from his mother, an excellent vocalist in her own right; Ki-mani honed his skills in the church. However, after losing his mother to a drug overdose, Ki-Mani found solace in singing the songs she sung to him as a child to fill the void created by her loss. He now puts that same passion into his work in the studio.By age seventeen, Ki-Mani was performing at various shows and events, and eventually caught the attention of Hipnotic/ Polygram Records, who signed him to his first record deal. This led to opportunities to perform alongside Usher, 50 Cent, Fabolous, as well as write for major artists like Mario and Brandy.His early material introduced him as the ladies man with the bad boy attitude. Laden with sensual lyrics and smooth melodies, his music brought him fans from all parts of the urban experience.
